We just recently got back from a trip of a lifetime with our team. On this trip, we experienced life in different cultures, ate our weight in ice cream cones, and soaked up every ounce of sun we could get! We wanted to share with you some of our expereinces on the Burke Voyage!
We spent the first day relaxing under some much needed UV Rays. That night was our first elegant dinner night, and can we take a second to acknowledge the goodness that is cruise food?! We ate more this week than we probably care to admit, but it’s all a part of the cruise experience, right?

Our first port, Amber Cove, was definitely one of our favorites! We got to experience the Dominican Republic in an exciting way with a little bit of an adrenaline rush. We took a topless bus to another town called Puerto Plata with our tour guide Jesus. They dropped us off at the bottom of the Damajagua Waterfalls to pickup our life jackets and helmets. Off we went with Jesus and our second tour guide, Junior, on a real Dominican adventure. We hiked through a river, up a mountain, and through a gorgeous forest for about 45 minutes. When we reached the top, the view was incredible! We were at the top of 1 of 27 Damajagua waterfalls, and i don’t think we fully realized what we had just gotten ourselves into! The first waterfall was a pretty hefty jump into a small pool of emerald colored water. Each waterfall led to a skinny stream of water through large canyons for us to swim through. Some waterfalls were tall cliffs to jump off of, whereas others were natural made waterslides. We were able to conquer 12 of the 27 waterfalls and it was experience we will never forget! If you’re every in the Dominican, we would highly recommend finding this hidden treasure!

Although we loved the Dominican, our next port, St. Thomas, probably takes the cake for our most favorite. We had gotten word that St. John of the USVI had better beaches, so we decided to take a ferry ride over to enjoy a nice day on the beach! We spent our day at Trunk Bay; the most beautiful, white sanded, turquoise-blue watered beach we had EVER seen! Seriously this beach was to die for!

We then fell in love with Puerto Rican streets. The streets are made of old cobblestone, lined with bright colorful buildings. We shopped around, played with parrots, and roamed the streets of San Juan.

Our final stop was in Grand Turk of the Turk and Caicos Islands. We enjoyed another day of white sand, turquoise water, and lots of Vitamin SEA!

Traveling the world with this crew is amazing. It involves dance parties (a lot of them), conquering our fears, and a whole lot of laughter.
We feel incredibly blessed to be a part of the Burke Ortho team, to be surrounded every single day by such hard working, talented individuals. Every single member of our team works so hard to provide the absolute best care for our patients. We strive to work hard, and we play hard too. Ultimately, we couldn’t do that without Dr. Burke and his amazing wife, Darci. These two are the epitome of go-givers, the heart and soul of Burke Ortho, and the glue that holds this team together. We feel blessed every day to be a part of their Burke Ortho Family.
