Among the excitement, Dr. Burke and Dr. Beckstrom will provide some guidance for your oral care once your braces are removed. In case you forget, we wrote everything down for you. Read on to learn what to expect when your braces finally come off.

The Countdown Begins

As you approach the end of your orthodontic treatment, it’s time to celebrate! You’ve come a long way, and the staff at Burke and Beckstrom is so proud of your progress. From the initial stages to the final adjustments, each step has brought you closer to a perfect smile.

To ensure a smooth braces removal experience, it’s essential that you have an appointment scheduled with enough time to go through our process. If you need to reschedule or have questions about your appointment, you can contact our front desk to get everything taken care of. This will ensure we can coordinate your exciting moment together! We’ll guide you on maintaining excellent oral hygiene and provide any specific care needs leading up to your removal appointment. Additionally, we might need to remove any remaining brackets or attachments during this visit. And most importantly, it’s time to get excited about your new smile!

The Process

Removing braces is a painless and straightforward procedure, so there’s nothing to worry about. During your appointment, Dr. Burke and Dr. Beckstrom will carefully remove each bracket and gently detach the bands and wires. You’ll be amazed at how quickly it all happens, and before you know it, your braces will be a thing of the past!

Immediately after your braces are removed, we’ll provide you with detailed instructions on how to care for your teeth and gums. This includes brushing twice a day and flossing at least once daily. This post-removal care routine is crucial for maintaining a healthy and beautiful smile. We’ll also give you the freedom to eat all of your favorite foods again.

To ensure the success of your treatment, we will perform a post-removal exam. During this exam, we might take x-rays, photographs, and impressions to evaluate the outcome of your braces. We’ll discuss the results with you, and begin creating your retainer. Your retainer will keep your teeth straight as they get used to their new positions. It’s important to wear your retainer nightly and to follow the instructions of Dr. Burke and Dr. Beckstrom if you experience any shifting following your treatment.

To ensure your smile maintains its perfection, we’ll schedule follow-up appointments with you. These visits will allow us to monitor the progress and make any adjustments necessary. Remember, wearing your retainers as instructed is vital to prevent shifting and maintaining your beautiful smile.
